Why Choose Mediation with Divorce is Simple

Separation and divorce are often portrayed as emotionally and financially draining — a long, combative process that leaves both parties worse off. But it doesn’t have to be that way. At Divorce is Simple, we offer a supportive, transparent, and affordable alternative to traditional litigation. Through our guided mediation process, couples across Ontario can separate peacefully, with clarity and confidence, and without spending tens of thousands on lawyers and court battles.

A Smarter, Kinder, More Affordable Approach

Divorce through the court system is not only time-consuming, but often adversarial. Each spouse typically hires their own lawyer, and communication breaks down. Legal fees quickly add up — even a “simple” divorce can cost upwards of $20,000 per person when going through litigation.

In contrast, Divorce is Simple helps you move forward respectfully. Our team works with both of you together, guiding you through every step with expert support and compassionate care. You’ll resolve your financial and parenting matters through structured mediation — not in a courtroom. We make it easier to find common ground, reduce stress, and protect your family’s future.

How It Works: Step-by-Step Support

Our all-inclusive packages take you from start to finish with no hidden fees. We serve all of Ontario through virtual mediation and also offer in-person support in Richmond Hill and Burlington.

Step One: Financial Disclosure

The first step in any fair divorce is full financial transparency. You’ll work with a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) to gather, organize, and review all relevant financial information. This includes your income, assets, debts, and expenses.

By clearly laying everything out from the beginning, we create a foundation for productive discussions and informed decisions. This process also minimizes future misunderstandings and reduces conflict.

Step Two: Mediation

At the heart of Divorce is Simple is professional divorce mediation. Our accredited mediators help you and your spouse work through key decisions — from property division to spousal support to parenting arrangements — in a neutral and supportive environment.

Mediation empowers both parties to be heard, stay focused, and make decisions that work for their unique situation. Unlike court proceedings, mediation fosters cooperation, not conflict.

Step Three: Separation Agreement

Once you’ve come to an agreement in mediation, we’ll draft a customized, legally binding separation agreement. This document outlines all terms, including child custody or parenting plans (if applicable), division of property, financial support, and other key details.

Our agreements are written in clear, understandable language so that both parties fully understand their rights and responsibilities moving forward.

Step Four: Independent Legal Advice (ILA)

Before finalizing your separation agreement, each person receives Independent Legal Advice from one of our trusted legal partners. This ensures that you understand your rights and that the agreement is fair and enforceable.

Our team arranges these legal appointments on your behalf, so you can rest easy knowing everything has been reviewed and approved by a legal professional.

Optional Step: Divorce Decree

Once it’s been at least one year since your official separation date, you may choose to file for a divorce decree to legally end the marriage. We offer this service for an additional $750, which includes the $662 Ontario court filing fee. We’ll handle the paperwork and filing to ensure the process is completed correctly and efficiently.

The Voice of Reason Package: Our Most Popular Option

If you have children or shared property — such as a home or investments — our Voice of Reason package is likely the right fit for you. Designed for couples seeking a respectful and affordable resolution, this comprehensive option includes everything needed to reach a legal separation without court.

What’s Included:

  • Full Financial Disclosure with support from a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst

  • Four Mediation Sessions with an Accredited Family Law Mediator

  • A Customised Separation Agreement tailored to your specific situation

  • A Parenting Plan, if needed

  • Independent Legal Advice from one of our trusted lawyers

Investment: $5,500 + HST per person

Payment Plan: Spread the cost over four months — interest-free

Optional Add-On: Divorce Decree filing for $750 (includes court fees)

Real Savings. Real Peace of Mind.

When you choose Divorce is Simple, you’re not just getting legal documents — you’re getting a complete support system. Our all-inclusive package costs less than half of what most people spend on a traditional lawyer-led divorce. And you’ll complete the process faster, with less conflict and stress.

This is about more than saving money — it’s about preserving your mental and emotional well-being, protecting your children from unnecessary conflict, and moving forward with dignity.

Book Before August 31st and Save

Until August 31, 2025, we’re offering a special bonus: Get your divorce decree free — a $750 value — when you sign up for the Voice of Reason package.

This means your entire separation and divorce process — from financial disclosure to final paperwork — can be completed for $5,500 + HST per person, with no surprise costs.

Why Mediation Works

Mediation has proven time and time again to be a more effective, less damaging way to separate. It puts you in control of the outcome instead of handing decisions over to a judge. It reduces the emotional toll and leads to better long-term co-parenting relationships. And most importantly, it helps you move forward in a way that’s respectful and solution-focused.

Our clients consistently tell us how relieved they were to avoid court, how helpful our team was in answering questions, and how empowered they felt making decisions that were right for their family — not just legally, but emotionally and practically too.
