Divorce Is Simple exists for one reason: to give Ontario families a fair, dignified path through separation without the cost, conflict, and confusion of the traditional legal system.
WHERE IT STARTED
I remember lying awake at 3am, chest tight, watching the legal bills climb and the savings disappear. Three years into a divorce I never planned for, I was doing everything everyone told me to do, and it was still costing me everything.
I felt completely alone in something no one prepares you for. I was trying to protect my children from the tension while quietly falling apart myself. The professionals I hired were well-meaning, but the system they worked inside was not designed with my wellbeing or my finances in mind.
I made the decision that changes everything. I fired my lawyer, represented myself, and won.
That decision didn't come from confidence. It came from necessity. I had spent three years trusting a process that was draining me, and I finally understood that I had to take control of my own outcome. So I did. I represented myself in court, obtained my divorce decree, and came out the other side with my finances intact and my dignity untouched. Then I went back to school.
I earned my accreditation as a family law mediator through York University, graduating in 2022 and opening Divorce Is Simple in 2023. It was the practice I had searched for during my own separation and couldn't find anywhere in Ontario.
WHAT I BRING TO THIS WORK
Before mediation, I spent 20 years as a licensed real estate broker, including five years as a development and education trainer, travelling across Ontario and the Maritimes to train others in the industry. I understand property, financial disclosure, and asset division in a way that most mediators simply don't.
Before Canada, I spent 15 years as a flight attendant with British Airways, travelling the world and learning how to stay calm, clear-headed, and human in high-pressure situations. That skill, being the steady presence in the room when everything feels uncertain, is one I use every single day in this practice.
I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I understand not just the legal and financial dimensions of separation, but the emotional ones. I know what it costs to hold everything together when everything feels like it's falling apart.
When you work with me, you're not getting someone who studied your situation from the outside. You're getting someone who came out the other side.
